Kaishui (Yikai Liu) (b. 1996) is a Chinese artist based in London with a primarily photographic practice. In 2022 he received his MA in Fashion Photography from the London College of Fashion and in 2018 he completed his BA in Digital Media from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. His editorial works have appeared in Sicky Mag, WRPD, and Vogue Italy.

 

Kaishui’s work captures the intimacy between friends, family, and his motherland. Series such as ‘August 2015’ present the spontaneity of rebellious adolescence and his recent project ‘The Days Gone Past’ redefines nostalgia and the home from the perspective of a foreigner. His photography often channels the subtleties of fleeting emotional ties between people in a lonely and purposeful journey.
